Show Reel 2015

Finally "done" with my show reel. Why "done"? 'Cause you're NEVER done. So let's call this a first draft. This show reel focuses on character animation, a generous reel is on the way.

Something Fishy

Here's a group project I was apart of. Took 8 weeks: starting with a few scribbles and a rough script which evolved to the fully rendered form you see before you. Not bad for 5 animation students.

Entertainment Design

Environments:
This is the initial concept: a Tudor-style house with eastern influences. Warping the first draft into these weird but interesting shapes was great fun. In fact, I reckon there still are a couple dozen that need to be constructed on paper.

 Final concept plan.

 Final concept graphic presentation.

 Final concept rendered.

Animation: Back to Basics

It seems that no matter how much I think I know about animation, one review from the resident pro and I'm heading back to the drawing board. The funny thing is that I'm happy to do so; excited even. There's always something new to learn about so much so that it literally(figuratively) blows my mind! It is a challenge... but a challenge I am all too thrilled to take on.

And so the conquest of animation commences....
*Please note that these are works in progress and finals are on the way.

Clyde and Gene models belong to South Seas Animation School.

Jumping the Fence

This was real fun to plan. Adding to that, with the abundance of parkour videos out the, I kinda lost my head; turning a simple wall jump into a gauntlet packed with towers, swinging axes, spikes and arrows. In the end, as is often the case, it was decided that less means more, resulting in this simple piece.

Get Up

Ignore the elbow deformation; as i somehow broke the rig.

Life Drawing, Modelling and Concepts

3D Models

Wasn't a fan of hard surface modelling till i built this guy. Who knew simple geometry could construct such a dynamic design.

Life. Not quite there yet but improvement has graced me with its presence. I include Henry Yang, Nathan Hawkes, Jason Hong, Ryan Woodward and Alexey Morosov as my influences.
